Los Angeles recap, Tempe review, Q show in December

Night 3 of the Kings of Leon / We Are Scientists tour had the guys playing to a huge crowd at the Nokia Theater- I think it was the biggest stage I’ve ever seen WAS on over here.

Setlist:

All the photos in this post were taken by Jennifer Ruidera for What’s the Word:

You can see the rest of her wonderful photos from this show here at Flickr.

There’s some Youtube videos online already from this show too- take a look at Michelle’s videos here.

Mindy recorded the audio from last night- download it here.

We Are Scientists and The Still at the Clubhouse on October 13
A review of the show in Tempe

And just when you UK people think you might be left out of the recent WAS on-going events- there’s something you can look forward to if you can win: Q Music Club at the Hard Rock Cafe. I found out last night that this show is going to be a special acoustic show too. Good luck to everyone entering this contest!

  1. Just when N.A. fans had WAS all to ourselves they have a UK show! 😉 lol jk! I really like those pictures!! haven’t had the chance to watch the videos, i’m still at school!

  2. thanks for the heads up on the competition. MUST…. WIN…. If you click the terms and conditions it says they’re giving away a pair of tickets. That’s really not very many is it.

  3. Hang on no, I think they’re giving away 25 pairs so that’s 50 people.

I thought ONE PAIR of tickets was a bit freaking stingy. 🙂

  4. You may have already seen this, and it may be a blatant lie, but Keith’s wikipedia page now says (along with something about him and Tom Smith being like a married couple, which *is* a blatant lie because Keith is obviously married to a certain other Editor):

“[Keith] is also going to be the face of Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer ’09 collection.”

  5. Well, don’t forget that “before becoming a member of We Are Scientists, Chris achieved fame at Pomona College during his time on the varsity swimming and diving team by completing the ‘flying squirrel’ in each of the forward, backward, inward, and reverse positions.”

    BWAH!

  6. Woah, if you scroll back through the previous wikipedia articles it just gets better:

“Keith is a vegetarian, this is why he donates half of his earnings each year to peta

There were rumours on wikipedia of his sexual promiscuity, which I can assure you are not true. I heard this from the man himself, budz.

Keith is to be the face of louis vuittons spring/summer ’09 collection”

“Keith is a vegetarian due to the fact he grew up next to a slaughter house where he could hear the animals being killed as he slept. Keith is also very sexually promiscuous and he has been linked to many female celebrities including – Ruby wax, Halle berry, Gisele bundchen and Kiera knightley.”

Wild rumours abound on wikipedia, it seems.

  7. Well it is wikipedia… I’m pretty certain he IS a vegetarian. Not sure about the whole abattoir or PETA thing. To be honest if he was giving loads of cash to peta the least they could do is actually let him win that sexiest vegetarian thing.

I stumbled across this earlier. The good stuff starts at 5:25.

  8. I don’t know if this is worth posting but you can hear matt helders remix of chick lit at his site helders.com for those who haven’t heard it

  9. part 1 of an interview from Los Angeles.

I’ve only seen the beginning but it seems to be one of those stupid interviews
“how did you come up with the name We Are SCientists”….yawn…. argh! 👿

  10. haha, he ought to.

interviewers ought to ask more original questions like, “hey, what’s up with those dolls of yous guys?”…:)

  11. haha, yes. for example. 😀
I mean, a tiny bit of research is not too much to ask for, is it? those were the 3 lamest questions there are. “how you came up with the band’s name, came up with the album’s title, you described your music as….” COME ON!….Man….this makes me really angry. thankfully it’s always a pleasure to watch/listen to them.

But I do loved all the talk about Stone Temple Pilots. I still can’t tell if WAS like them, but I know I love them. HA! great band. 😛

  12. they put rubbish on wikipedia themselves sometimes, or so i hear 😛

like ‘chris cain has a wide collection of frog skins’
and something about his strong Buddhist beliefs stopping him playing bass live or some rubbish.

silly wikipedia people always take it off though.

i wanna win the q thing too D:

  13. The response to national disaster is awesome but it’s a damn shame that so many citizens take advantage of the negative situations.

I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill – there’s always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.

This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys “angels” got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!
